A meaningful event was organized by our university's Center for Disability Studies and Applications on the occasion of December 3rd, the International Day of Persons with Disabilities.
The program, held at the university's Social Center, was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan KAYGUSUZ, Director of the Center for Disability Studies and Applications Prof. Dr. Hatice ERÖKSÜZ, students with disabilities, and their families.
In her opening speech, Prof. Dr. Hatice ERÖKSÜZ emphasized the significance of December 3rd, International Day of Persons with Disabilities, and stated:
"Today is an important day to raise awareness in society and make the voices of individuals with disabilities heard louder. We are carrying out many initiatives to facilitate the academic and social lives of our students with disabilities at our university. This program has been organized to listen closely to their concerns and to meet in a warm and welcoming environment."
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. İrfan KAYGUSUZ, in his speech, stated that they are aware of the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and that the university administration is always solution-oriented.
Prof. Dr. KAYGUSUZ expressed:
"Our students with disabilities are the most valuable individuals at our university. We are ready to provide the necessary support to solve any problems they encounter. Ensuring equal opportunities in education, removing barriers, and creating an accessible campus environment are among our top priorities. We will continue to work to contribute not only to our students' academic achievements but also to their social development."
Throughout the event, students had the opportunity to engage in enjoyable conversations with the university administration and their families.
Vice Rector Prof. Dr. KAYGUSUZ and the team from the Center for Disability Studies and Applications carefully listened to the problems and requests voiced by the students and exchanged ideas on possible solutions.
The program concluded with souvenir photographs and morale-boosting activities for the students.
Participants expressed their gratitude to the university administration and the Center for Disability Studies and Applications for organizing such a meaningful gathering.
